Andrew J. Carpenter, Ph.D., is a distinguished leader in the pharmaceutical sciences with a career marked by transformative contributions to drug development, manufacturing innovation, and scientific leadership. He currently serves as the Chief Scientific Officer and Head of Manufacturing, Science & Technology (MS&T) at Phlow Corp. In this capacity, Dr. Carpenter oversees all aspects of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) development and manufacturing, spearheading scientific research initiatives, and guiding the execution of Research & Development and MS&T projects. He has played an instrumental role in enhancing API production capabilities for both U.S. government and commercial initiatives, emphasizing sustainable, efficient, and high-quality pharmaceutical manufacturing practices.

Dr. Carpenter's expertise in chemistry spans a wide array of critical areas, including continuous processing, process chemistry, and medicinal chemistry. He has a proven track record of leading projects through every phase of drug development and has demonstrated exceptional skill in aligning scientific rigor with business strategy. His work has consistently delivered results, including the successful discovery of new chemical entities, one of which is approaching commercialization—a testament to his dedication and innovation-driven mindset.

Over his career, Dr. Carpenter has held senior leadership roles at prominent organizations such as GlaxoSmithKline, where he led medicinal chemistry programs targeting metabolic diseases and contributed to the identification of multiple clinical candidates. His work there culminated in a peptide program that advanced to human studies, highlighting his collaborative and results-oriented approach. His tenure at Ampac Fine Chemicals and Alcami Corporation further solidified his expertise in managing complex projects that span development to cGMP production, often incorporating cutting-edge technologies such as continuous manufacturing processes.

Dr. Carpenter is also a recognized thought leader in the industry.
