Clemens Mantl
Clemens was appointed director of Office of Science and Technology Austria - Washington, DC in September 2015. A career diplomat, he was posted in various countries focusing on cultural and scientific diplomacy. He served as director of the Austrian Cultural Forums in Teheran, Iran and Cairo, Egypt. In these positions, he promoted internationally successful, dialogue-driven intercultural cooperation. During his time at the ministry headquarters in Vienna, he coordinated Austria’s membership in the Executive Board of UNESCO. Clemens was also a member in EU working groups that focus on culture in external relations. Before taking up his assignment in Washington, DC, he served as the deputy spokesperson of the Austrian Foreign Ministry.
