Ravi Shanker
Dr. Ravi Shanker co-led the Technology Development workgroup at the Advanced Manufacturing Partnership 2.0 project. He currently serves as Global Business Advisor for Dow Chemical. In his career at Dow he served as the first CEO of Dow Kokamn, after leading the team that created this joint venture in advanced battery technologies, and has many years of experience building, growing and running businesses with Dow Chemical. He previously served as Corporate Director of Ventures & Business Development, first joined Dow in 1991 and has primarily focused on growing Dow’s business via new product development. Starting in the research department, he focused on developing new manufacturing processes. Mr. Shanker also supported the office of the Chief Executive in strategy development for near- and long-term business opportunities in emerging geographies, as well as in the role of Business Director of Specialty Plastics in the Performance Products Portfolio. He has incubated a portfolio of innovative business opportunities for Dow, driving many to commercialization. Mr. Shanker holds a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Delaware and a B. Tech. in mechanical engineering from B.I.T. Sindri, in India. He also has an MBA from the University of Houston.
