Why Congress Should Back a Stopgap Commercial Drone Bill
The lack of concrete federal rules on commercial drones has put U.S. companies at a distinct disadvantage compared to their foreign competitors, leading some to start moving their operations abroad. This is bad news for American innovation and the American economy. The Commercial UAS Modernization Act, recently introduced by Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), would address this issue by creating an interim regulatory framework that would allow commercial drone operations to move forward until the FAA delivers a final rule.
