Comments to NITRD on Draft Smart Cities and Communities Federal Strategic Plan

In comments to the Networking and Information Technology Research and Development Program (NITRD), ITIF’s Center for Data Innovation argues that the goals and strategies NITRD puts forth in its draft Smart Cities and Communities Federal Strategic Plan are worthwhile efforts to advance the development of smart cities in the United States. To strengthen these efforts, NITRD should also focus on cultivating a global smart city community, make it a strategic priority to reduce data poverty, and ensure that its work compliments and aids the development of a national strategy for the Internet of Things.
