Recommendation

Congress should launch a matching-grant program to assist states in developing manufacturing strategies.

Details

U.S. states would benefit from developing and executing state-level manufacturing innovation strategies. Congress should authorize a program, which could be administered by the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), providing a grant of up to $300,000 per state—which would have a 2:1 federal-state matching requirement—to assist U.S. states with the development and execution of state-level manufacturing strategies.
