Recommendation

The administration should direct the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) to develop more interstate, sector-based initiatives.

Details

Because supply chains cross state boundaries, MEP should take on more of a supply chain and sector-based focus, making the program more oriented around America’s industrial clusters. For example, to that end the program should launch a specific initiative to support the automotive sectors across the U.S. Midwest and Southeast.
