Populism and the Economics of Antitrust
The new antitrust populism currently prevailing in competition matters epitomizes the characteristics of both the economic and political aspects of populism. This Chapter first deciphers the essence of economic populism, argues that economic populism leads to political populism. This Chapter then demonstrates how the new antitrust populism demonstrates the main features of economic and political populism - namely, an anti-expert and holistic view, and the reliance on unfair competition to advance a radical agenda.
